The law’s purpose and scope within New York State’s criminal legal system. Sentencing relief under DVSJA\, including eligibility\, statutory criteria\, and reduced sentencing ranges. How DVSJA is applied at the time of sentencing. Post-conviction relief options and pathways for currently incarcerated individuals. Next steps after identifying an eligible client\, including referrals and coordination with defense counsel. How to support clients in developing effective narratives for sentencing and resentencing. The role of expert witnesses and interdisciplinary support.
