SUMMARY:Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network (ATTC): Beyond Self-Care: Rethinking Care at the Organizational Level
DESCRIPTION:Self-care isn’t just a personal responsibility—it’s an organizational one. When helping professionals are overextended\, the effects ripple outward: burnout\, turnover\, and a decline in the quality of care provided to those who need it most. This session reframes self-care as a collective goal\, offering a systems-oriented framework that connects personal\, professional\, organizational\, and community-level strategies. Walk away with practical tools to help your organization shift from individual self-care to genuine organizational care. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\nBy the end of this presentation\, participants will be able to: \n\nTrace the evolution of self-care from its origins in the medical and first-responder fields to its current framing within the wellness industry\, and critique how that framing can shift responsibility for burnout onto individuals rather than addressing dysfunctional systems.\nExplain how organizational environment and practices shape employee well-being\, and articulate why effective self-care requires a systems-oriented approach integrating personal\, professional\, organizational\, and community-level strategies.\nIdentify and apply proactive wellbeing practices across mental\, physical\, emotional\, and spiritual domains for themselves and the people they support.\nApply a trauma-informed framework (drawing on SAMHSA’s “4 R’s”) to recognize signs of burnout\, compassion fatigue\, vicarious trauma\, and to identify opportunities for fostering a collective environment of care within their own organizations.\n\n\n*CONTACT HOUR ELIGIBILITY   \nIn order to be eligible for the contact hours/certificate of attendance\, you must join the live training in the Zoom platform. \nContact Hours (Certificate of Attendance): up to 1.25 for attending the entire session. \n
