SUMMARY:Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network (ATTC): Empowerment and Protective Factors for Understanding and Mitigating Compassion Fatigue & Vicarious Trauma Series
DESCRIPTION:The Central East ATTC\, managed by The Danya Institute\, provides training and technical assistance (TA) and quality improvement activities to the substance use disorder workforce in HHS Region 3\, which includes Delaware\, the District of Columbia\, Maryland\, Pennsylvania\, Virginia\, and West Virginia. The Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTCs) play a critical role in advancing our nation’s health by equipping healthcare professionals and community organizations with effective tools to address individuals\, children\, and families impacted by alcohol and drug use. We build local capacity of the behavioral health workforce resulting in treatment that leads to long-term recovery and people\nbecoming contributing members of society as quickly as possible.\nThis two-part training series is designed to equip helping professionals with strategies to recognize\, manage\, and prevent the negative emotional and physical effects of exposure to trauma and suffering. It helps providers rebuild resilience and sustain their capacity to deliver high-quality care. \nJULY 22\, 2026  OBJECTIVES \n\nDefine concepts of Compassion Fatigue\, Vicarious Trauma\, and Burnout\nDemonstrate the impact of Compassion Fatigue\, Vicarious Trauma\, and Burnout on the helping professionals\nIdentify the symptoms of Compassion Fatigue\, Vicarious Trauma\, and Burnout\nIdentify protective factors that mitigate susceptibility\n\nJULY 29\, 2026  OBJECTIVES \n\nExplain ways to prevent Compassion Fatigue\, Vicarious Trauma\, and Burnout in the helping profession\nIdentify techniques to manage Compassion Fatigue\, Vicarious Trauma\, and Burnout in the helping profession\nDefine the  VICTORY acronym for mitigating Compassion Fatigue\, Vicarious Trauma\, and Burnout\n\nIn order to be eligible for the contact hours/certificate of attendance\, you must join the live training in the Zoom platform. \nContact Hours (Certificate of Attendance): up to 1.25 for attending each session.

When individuals and families are actively involved and engaged in the decisions that impact them the more likely they are to take part.\nIn this course\, participants will explore how the foundations of a trusting relationship can support individuals and families to be self-directed and engage in programs and services that can help them to meet their goals. \nThis course includes steps for person-centered service planning\, engagement of clients/tenants at all levels of the organization\, and strategies for working with individuals and families.
