Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network (ATTC): SUD Re-Screening for Re-entry Populations
July 16 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Free
The Central East ATTC, managed by The Danya Institute, provides training and technical assistance (TA) and quality improvement activities to the substance use disorder workforce in HHS Region 3, which includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTCs) play a critical role in advancing our nation’s health by equipping healthcare professionals and community organizations with effective tools to address individuals, children, and families impacted by alcohol and drug use. We build local capacity of the behavioral health workforce resulting in treatment that leads to long-term recovery and people
becoming contributing members of society as quickly as possible.
This session will examine the role of substance use disorder re-screening for people returning to the community from the carceral system. It will focus on shifting needs in the early re-entry period, making updated screening an important part of effective care planning. The session will highlight practical approaches to integrating re-screening into re-entry workflows to support continuity of care, timely referral, and reduced risk of return to substance use. The intended audience includes behavioral health clinicians, re-entry and correctional health staff, peer specialists, case managers, program leaders, and other professionals involved in care coordination for justice-involved populations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Describe why substance use disorder re-screening is important for people returning from the carceral system.
- Identify key points in the re-entry process where re-screening can improve care coordination and treatment linkage.
- Apply practical strategies for incorporating SUD re-screening into re-entry service workflows.
In order to be eligible for the contact hours/certificate of attendance, you must join the live training in the Zoom platform. Contact Hours (Certificate of Attendance): up to 1.25 for attending the entire session.
