Justice in Motion Connects New Yorkers to Jobs, Support, and Pathways Forward

“Justice in Motion is about helping New Yorkers move forward — from instability to stability, from isolation to support, from system involvement to opportunity, and from survival to success,” said MOCJ Director Deanna Logan. “When we connect justice-involved New Yorkers to the supports they need, we are building a safer and fairer New York City.”

On June 3, the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice held its third Justice in Motion Job Fair & Symposium on Staten Island, bringing together more than 300 New Yorkers, employers, service providers, public safety experts, and community partners.

The event highlighted how investments in diversion, reentry, public health, housing, employment, and peer support can reduce crime and incarceration while helping justice-impacted New Yorkers build stable, successful futures.

JOBS & CAREER RESOURCES

  • More than 170 jobseekers connected with nearly two dozen employers and service providers.
  • The hiring hall generated nearly 500 jobseeker engagements, five on-site interviews, and six conditional job offers.
  • 98% of surveyed attendees reported being satisfied with the job fair.
  • The NYCHA Digital Van provided access to resume assistance, career resources, and online government services.

PUBLIC SAFETY SOLUTIONS

  • Expert panels explored mental health and substance use needs, the importance of peers and lived experience, and housing disparities affecting successful reentry.
  • An interactive housing simulation gave participants a firsthand look at the barriers New Yorkers can face when seeking permanent housing after incarceration.
