Eligibility

  • Participants must be ages 11 to 24 and reside in New York City
  • All poetry submissions are welcome. All work must be original.

Why?

Next Verse offers young creatives an outlet to share their lived experiences and build confidence through poetry. Their creativity and unique perspectives will inspire conversations about the richness of urban culture.

History

All New Yorkers play a role in shaping their community’s look and feel, and in celebrating what it means to them. Through Next Verse, young New Yorkers can describe their ideal communities and creatively display the positive values that make our city great.

Winner Selection!!!
Submissions will be sorted into three age groups. From each group, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners will be selected, along with honorable mentions. Age groups:

  • Ages 11-15
  • Ages 16-20
  • Ages 21-24
