Northeast and Caribbean Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network (ATTC): High Stress Coping and Substance Use: A Toxic Combination – 2 renewal hours (CASAC, CPP, CPS); 2 initial hours (CPP, CPS)

July 7 @ 10:00 am12:00 pm
Free

Northeast & Caribbean Addiction Technology Transfer Center (NeC-ATTC) serving HHS Region 2: New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. NeC-ATTC mission is to build relationships and bridge the gap between research and practice in the public health arena to ensure the advancement of state-of-the-art techniques, evidence-based and promising practices, and supports for non-physician health and human services providers and other practitioners. This is accomplished by fostering relationships at the federal, state, local, international, philanthropic and private sector levels.

Coping with life stressors, be it health issues, economic stability, or family well-being, can be especially difficult for some. Circumstances around managing life challenges can increase stress and the potential for substance use as a perceived ‘buffer’. This interactive dialogue will look at how chronic stress can alter brain chemistry, make individuals more susceptible to substance use, and will further review stress-reducing activities for healthy ways of managing stress and its impact on wellness.

Please note: Tickets are not needed for this event. After registering, the Zoom link will be included in the confirmation email.
